The Young Kings Mentorship Group, held at numerous schools throughout Brevard County, is a program in which is comprised of male students from 5th through the 12th grade. This program is designed to usher young men in becoming productive members of society through academic, social, financial, personal mentoring, and community outreach. The Young Kings program includes weekly or monthly meetings at their designated schools where the topics can range anywhere from “facing your fears”, “maintaining integrity”, “accountability”, or just to address academic needs any student may have through the assistance of school tutoring curricula. Meetings will at times have guest speakers from ALL walks of life to share their testimonies or just information sharing with our members.
Community service is a major component of our Young Kings program as it teaches our students about selfless service and the importance of giving back to their respective communities that they themselves reside. In the past, the Young Kings held Thanksgiving dinner at the local recreation center for families and delivered over 300 dinner plates to Senior Citizens and families of need. Our volunteer efforts extended to community clean ups, to include school campuses, and we’ve also supported the local Annual Antique Car Show, to name a few. As a reward for selfless community service, we conduct quarterly team building events such as paintball, roller skating, or sport outings. Our members are all impressionable young works in progress that are heading in the right direction as it takes a village to accomplish our goal of productive “Young Kings”!
We aim to enlighten and support our community while providing a positive influence on the growth and outlook of our youth. We intend to provide positive male role models, encourage self-respect and self-esteem; foster a respect for others; recognize youth accomplishments; serve as a catalyst in which our young men, groups, places of worship, private/public organizations can establish and maintain an effective and continual communication with members of our community and encourage them in their positive growth, development and responsibility.
We will be a contributing force in stopping the self-destruction of our young men of today. To be positive examples for the local youth, that exemplify the idea that anything is possible if you have respect for yourself, one another and are willing to work hard enough to accomplish your goals. To install in our youth that their only limit is the size of their ideas and the degree of their dedication.
