Welcome

The instructional programs of Dr. W. J. Creel School are based on serving every student with excellence as the standard. We have a unique system of teaching children on their individual level whether on grade level, above, or with special needs. Children receive small group, teacher-directed reading lessons every day. Every child working on grade level with support or with special needs in reading receives two or more reading lessons a day. One of the additional reading lessons is provided through Title I. This, along with hands-on active involvement, makes Dr. W. J. Creel School the school of choice. Our students excel at the state and national levels. We have been honored fourteen times as an A school. The White House has recognized Dr. W. J. Creel School as one of the nation's top schools. 

Dr. W. J. Creel School was awarded a State Music Demonstration School for the years 2005-2008, 2008-2011, and 2011-2014. A Music Demonstration School is a school whose music program is comprehensive in scope and outstanding in quality. It contributes to the overall excellence of the school environment, addresses the Sunshine State Standards for Music in exemplary ways, and promotes aesthetic student achievement in music and other areas of the curriculum. 

Special programs allow enriching elementary student experiences. Notable among these are students writing and producing an original opera each year, our Shakespeare Theater, computer labs in every area, three strings groups, hand bells, choir, chorus, recorders, Art Stars Club, Odyssey of the Mind teams, a monitored home reading program for K-3, a media center boasting nearly 18,000 volumes  and so much more. The commitment to excellence by our wonderful staff, teachers and volunteer corps exemplifies our service and dedication to children.

Student hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each school day.
Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each school day.
Each Friday is "Early Release" at 1:15 p.m.
