Literacy Week is next week!!! Join in the fun by participating in our dress up days.
The JMS media center is hosting a robotics day on Feb. 21st. Team 801 Horsepower will be there, and Patrick Space Force will be bringing their robodog (provided it's not called away on a mission.) To earn an invitation to the event, students must read "The Superteacher Project" by Gordon Korman. There are a few copies in the media center for students who want to check it out over break. Students are also allowed to read a copy from the public library, but they will need to let Ms. Mason know when they return.
NJHS, SGA and FEA students teamed up tonight to wrap gifts for the JMS Angel Tree. Over 30 students gave up their free time in order to provide wrapped presents for Jefferson families in need. A HUGE thank you to Heather Anderson for organizing this event, JPO for providing supplies and pizza, and for everyone who donated to our Statesmen community.
Nonfiction November. For every nonfiction book a student reads, they can earn a sticker of their choice for their computer or water bottle. How many stickers can our students collect?
A lot happened in the library during 1st quarter!
Basketball tryouts are August 19-21. Students must have all athletic paperwork completed before participating. You can find it under the Athletics tab on the website.
JMS band student Rachael Gutterson was featured on the cover of Florida Music Director Magazine this month. Her picture was taken during her All-State Band appearance.
JMS students represented us well at the recent FEA competition. Way to go, Statemen!
Thank you to the Mel Fisher Museum in Key West for lending us your traveling museum about underwater archeology. It matched with many of our science concepts allowing students to see how science works in the real world.
Don't forget to get your Spring Fling Dance tickets at lunch this week!
Congratulations to our JMS band. They had the opportunity to perform at the Brevard Zoo for the first time ever! We are lucky to have a band director willing to share our music with our community.
