This past Spring, our school received an opportunity for some of our students to participate in an artist residency project sponsored by Brevard Cultural Alliance in partnership with Brevard Schools Foundation. Ms. Harris, our Gifted teacher, and her students worked with a resident artist, Ms. Mary Moon for the past several weeks on a mural in our common area. Ms. Moon runs Surf Art Camp out of Cocoa Beach every summer. (www.marymoonarts.com) The Next Generation Artist Residencies Program is presented by Brevard Cultural Alliance on behalf of Brevard Public Schools in partnership with Brevard Schools Foundation and is sponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Florida Division of Arts and Culture, the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the Dillen Charitable Fund for Brevard, and John K. and Julia R. Roach Fund at the Community Foundation for Brevard and generous local funding from the Community Foundation for Brevard and “State of the Arts” license plate revenue.
