Principal

Mrs. Back is a Brevard County native who attended Brevard Public Schools as a student herself. She has been employed with BPS since 2003 where she spent time at Fairglen, Sabal, and Dr. W.J. Creel Elementary. She spent the last four years as Assistant Principal at Dr. W.J. Creel.

She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She is currently certified in the following areas:  Educational Leadership K-12, Elementary Education K-6, Reading Endorsement K-12, and English for Speakers of Other Languages Endorsement K-12.

Mrs. Back believes that every student deserves the very best version of herself daily. Oftentimes, challenges come our way that we have no control of. However, we do get to choose our attitude, mindset, and how we react to those challenges. Creating a positive environment will help to cultivate positive outcomes. She is very excited to be a part of the Atlantis family and looks forward to an exciting school year!

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Copeland is also a Brevard County Native who attended Brevard Public Schools as a student. She has been employed with BPS since 2011 and has worked at South Lake Elementary, Mims Elementary and most recently the district office in Elementary Leading and Learning (now Curriculum and Instruction).

She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and her Master’s Degree from the American College of Education. She is currently certified in the following areas: Educational Leadership K-12, Prekindergarten/Primary Education Age 3-Grade 3, Elementary Education K-6, Reading Endorsement K-12, Literacy Coach Endorsement K-12, and English Speakers of Other Languages Endorsement K-12.

Mrs. Copeland believes that all children are unique and must have an educational environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally, and socially. She also feels that school environments should enable teachers to flourish and students to excel. Each day is a new day, a blank slate, and a chance for all of us to achieve something great. She is excited for this school year and is so happy to be a part of the Atlantis family!

When Mrs. Copeland is not at school she loves spending time with her husband, their two daughters, and her golden retriever.
