Love music? So do we! Explore Global musical traditions and the function of music in a multitude of cultures. Examine the fundamentals, sound, and structure of music to understand how music is representative of the culture in which it was created and become a more informed listener.

Guitar 1 - 1.0 Credit (2 Segments)
Ready to play guitar? Experience isn't needed, but a six-string guitar is. If you have never touched a guitar, don't worry. All you need is an interest in starting your musical education. If you already play guitar, why not build on your techniques? Guitar 1 introduces the basics of music and guitar.
Students will be guided by Carlos and Ariel as they learn to play guitar and learn about music notation, musical styles, simple and full-strum chords, foundational music literacy and theory, and major scales.
To get started, be sure to have a playable six-string guitar and a device capable of recording a video, including audio, to submit work to the teacher. Grab your guitar and get ready to jam.

Whether you've never touched a guitar or have been playing guitar forever, this course is a great place to start your music education or continue building your skills. No prior music experience is needed in this middle school level course.
Learn the fundamentals of music and the basic skills necessary to play a wide variety of music styles including simple and full-strum chords, strumming patterns, playing/singing simple melodies, parts of the guitar, and ensemble skills, and explore the careers of significant musicians in varied genres.
Student guides Carlos and Summer, guide students through each step of this journey toward becoming skilled guitarists and musicians.

Ever wonder how people make music? In this middle school level course, you'll not only investigate musical instruments, composers, styles, and concepts, you'll explore how it's used all around the world!
You will learn about how musical genres have developed throughout time and in different places, and you'll dig into how music is created, performed and experienced. You'll even have the chance to make some tunes of your own!
