A Message from the Principal

As principal of Coquina Elementary School, development of relationships with students, families and staff is my priority. I believe that the core of a great partnership begins with commitment to understanding the needs and goals of every student. Socrates once said, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” We will always teach our students FIRST then curriculum.

Our theme for the school year is:  IGNITE: Character, Achievement, Leadership

Character is an expression of an individual’s attitudes. I believe the fundamental measure of success is graduating students who possess an understanding of how to meet their own needs respectfully and responsibly. How each student values themselves and others is all about attitude!

Achievement is something done successfully, typically by effort, courage or skill. I believe in providing an environment where ALL students make learning gains. Hard work is satisfying and builds confidence!

Leadership is development of guiding principles and standards where others want to join in. I believe in developing skills that will increase the students’ ability to foster positive and healthy relationships, utilize creative thinking, apply new skills and seek personal growth and development. Leaders first serve others!

It’s all about the long term. I encourage students, parents, community members and staff to join us in having conversations that strengthen our practices, provide opportunities of growth and invest in our children.

It’s going to be a great year!

A Message from the Assistant Principal

I started my educational career in Seminole County in 2007.  I was a Speech Pathologist, ESE teacher, ESE Staffing Specialist, and Instructional Coach.  In 2020, I moved to Brevard County and became an ESE Support Specialist serving MILA and Cape View Elementary schools.  In 2023, I was appointed as Coquina’s new Assistant Principal.  Students are my number one priority, having an environment that meets all learning needs is most important to me.  I am so excited to be a Cougar!
