PE

Welcome to Physical Education with Coach Atkins!

P.E. is a form of education that allows students to learn through physical activity. Students will develop movement competence, and develop a knowledge of fitness and responsible behaviors and values.

Morning Mile is an optional running program open to all students on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at Longleaf. Students will walk, jog, or run laps on the field and document their distance with their own personal QR card. When students hit a specific amount of miles (ex: 1 mile, 5 miles, 10 miles...) they receive a Morning Mile charm from Coach Atkins to acknowledge their hard work. The EZ scan software used for this program not only tracks the individual students distance but also the total distance ran by classes and the school as a whole. This program is inclusive to all students and is a great way for students to start their mornings off on the right foot.

Track is a great opportunity for students to work on cardiovascular endurance, gain confidence, and to work and bond as team. Track is a spring semester sport that is available for students in 4th through 6th grade. Tryout dates are announced during P.E. class and on the schools morning announcements. Tryouts are held during school hours. Students on the team meet after school twice a week to condition and practice for the meet that is held later in the spring semester.
