What We Are Learning in PE:
Welcome Back!  I am SO excited for another school year!  We will start out our new school year working on the following skills: rules/procedures, team building/cooperative games and locomotor/non-loco-motor skills.

Morning Mile:  *Stay tuned for starting date*
WHAT:      A before school walking/running program designed to let students begin each day in an active, healthy and fun way.
WHEN:       All school year for all grades
TIME:         Each morning, Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:50 AM
WHERE:     The students will gather on the track and will walk or run as many as 1/8 of a mile laps as they want to or can.
WHY:        To promote an active healthy lifestyle starting at a young age.
WHO:         All students in grades K-6th are invited!
COST:       Free
Ms. Best and parent volunteers will staff the program. The students will attempt to complete as many laps as they are comfortable with each morning. The laps will be totaled and the students will be rewarded as they accumulate miles. Providing children the opportunity to exercise each morning not only works to fight childhood obesity, it allows students to expend youthful energy on the field leaving them more likely to sit still and focus once the school day begins. It’s a win-win for everyone involved and Manatee Elementary is thrilled to promote fitness and all the great benefits that go with it.  Parents are welcome to volunteer in the program. For information on how you can get involved, email Ms. Best at Best.Tabitha@brevardschools.org

Upcoming Events:
Walk to School Day: Wed October 4th

Dress Code

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to our EPEA (Excellence in Physical Education Award) winning PE program.  I have a fun, energetic, skill-based year planned with lots of high energy fitness activities and traditional games.

To promote SAFETY in all of our Physical Education classes, the dress code will be as follows:

Shoes: ATHLETIC SNEAKERS OR TENNIS SHOES ONLY!!!!
Athletic shoes must be tied, velcroed or zipped above the shoe with the tongue securely on the foot. The entire foot must be covered for safety. Laces can not be slipped under the tongue of shoes and slip on shoes (Vans) are not acceptable.  Slip on athletic shoes are fine for PE.

Students are encouraged to bring a WATER BOTTLE WITH WATER ONLY to PE.

If your child needs to be EXCUSED from Physical Education for any reason, please provide me a parent/doctor’s note.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 433-0050 ext. 46838 or best.tabitha@brevardschools.org.

I am looking forward to educating your child in lifelong fitness skills!

Ms. Best
