ESOL is an acronym.  It stands for:

English Speakers of Other Languages

The ESOL program provides for understandable instruction while the curriculum content in Language Arts and the basic subject areas remain the same as they are for fluent English speakers.  The primary means of providing understandable instruction is through the use of ESOL strategies.
