Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college preparatory program that assists and supports students with the potential and desire to go to college and achieve their dreams. Students are instructed in tools needed to be successful in rigorous high school and college courses, which include Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses, and their future careers. This includes supporting and reinforcing organizational and study skills, using higher-order thinking and questioning, SAT/ACT test preparation, and goal setting. Students participate in tutorials twice a week to support the rigor in their classes as a part of their academic support system. Students also attend college visits and listen to guest speakers from colleges and the community to help further their goals and aspirations.
