Brevard Public Schools partnered with “Who We Play For” to offer an ECG (Electrocardiogram) heart screenings to all 6th grade students. Studies show that 1 in 300 youth have an undetected heart condition that they or their families know nothing about. The best first line of defense is early detection and since over 96% of the heart issues that can cause Sudden Cardiac Arrest are missed with a standard stethoscope at a student physical, adding the ECG screening will help detect these conditions and save lives.
