SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Through out the year Sea Park is dedicated to promoting literacy. We have many hands and minds on programs that bring books and learning to a new level. Please check out our events page for a list of descriptions and photos of each.

CHECKING OUT BOOKS
All students are given a library card that stays at the library and is used at each classes scheduled library visit. Students alternate between Library and Technology. During Media weeks students have the opportunity to checkout while learning how to use print, multimedia, and telecommunication resources.

Kindergarteners are allowed to check out only one book at a time.
First Graders are allowed to check out only 1 book at a time.
Second Graders are allowed to check out 2 books at a time.
Third – Sixth Graders are allowed to check out 3 books at a time.
Books are check out for 2 weeks at a time, But may be returned at anytime.

Students are always welcomed to exchange books before and after school and anytime of the day with permission from their teacher.

RENEWING OVERDUE BOOKS
Students may renew books as long as the books are not on reserve. Sunshine State Reader books and Children Book Awards can be renewed only once.
There is no charge for overdue books. As long as the book is overdue it counts as one of the students checked-out books. Therefore, they are allowed to continue to check out one other book. Further restrictions may be put on the student’s checkout privileges if the book is not returned within a one month period. A notice will also be sent home so the parent/guardian can help us locate the book.

DAMAGED AND LOST BOOKS
If a library book is lost please contact Samantha McGill at the Media Center. We will make a note of the missing book and allow your child to continue to check out books for about a month. If the book is not found, you will be sent a notice for the cost of its replacement. If you have any questions about a lost or damaged book please call us at 779-2050.
Please do not repair damaged books at home. We have special book tape and glue for long-term repair. If we are unable to repair the book you may be contacted for the cost of replacement.
