    • Updates:

      1. If you were not at the concert and it was an EXCUSED absence, you must play your concert music live or submit a recording for Mr. Hottel by the end of next week for your concert grade. 

       

      2. We are having our year end celebration for Band next Tuesday May 10 in the CHS Auditorium from 6:00 - 8:30pm. Students will sign up for what they are bringing (potluck dinner) in the Band room this week. (See calendar for more details)

    • MPA itinerary is available on the Calendar (click on the event) and on the students' Focus page.

  • January 10

    • The handouts about Concert MPA can be found on the "Calendar" page. There are 2 separate handouts: 1 for High School, 1 for Middle School.  Please make sure you are looking at the correct one.  Hard copies are available in class as well.  Rehearsals for both groups begin next week. Please see the calendar for all dates (rehearsals, performances, parent meetings, etc).


  • Upcoming Band Events

    • Band Concert (ALL band groups) – Tuesday Dec. 14

      • Call Time:

        • 4:45pm for Students in the Band room.

        • Doors will open by 5:45pm.

        • Concert begins @ 6:00pm in the CHS auditorium.

        • Will end by 7pm, but students help move everything off the stage and reset the Band & Chorus/Orchestra rooms before leaving. This takes less than 5 minutes if everyone helps.

      • Attire:

        • Beginning Band students are wearing their Black Band shirt, blue/black jeans (or long black/blue pants), and closed toe shoes (no slides/flip flops/crocs).

        • Concert, Advanced, & Symphonic Band students are wearing ALL Black concert attire. This means formal clothes (no t-shirts, flip flops, shorts, etc).


    • Rehearsal for Concert/Adv Bands (1st & 3rd pd) – Monday Dec 13

      • From 3:30 – 4:15pm

      • Only for 1st & 3rd period classes


         

    • Holiday Parade (marching band) – Saturday Dec 11

      • Call time 12:30pm at Rockledge HS on the track.

      • Wearing Full Uniform plus Holiday hats instead of shakos (santa hats, elf ears, etc).

      • Everyone must bring their OWN EQUIPMENT. It must go home by Friday afternoon since the Band room will be closed Saturday morning.

      • If you are driving, have a plan to get back to your car at Rockledge HS. I would buddy up with someone and have 1 person park at the end (Lee Wenner Park) and 1 person at Rockledge HS.

      • The Band room will be open after the parade to put equipment away. You can also help with Concession clean up for volunteer hours! (see below)

      • ***We are about 5th in the order, so we should be done around 2:45pm.


         

    • Concession Clean up (marching band) – Saturday Dec 11

      • We will plan to start around 3:30pm. 

      • After the parade, we will be cleaning up the concession stands since we are done using them for football games. We need A LOT of help. The more people, the faster it goes.

      • We need people to: organize the concession room (in band rm), wipe down counters, move equipment/food from concession stand to band rm, mop/sweep floors, clean grill.


         

    • Rehearsal for State (marching band) – Wednesday Dec 15

      • From 3:30 – 5:15pm

      • Permission slips need to be turned in by this point.


         

    • State Final FB game (marching band) – Thursday Dec 16

      • Report to school normally (make sure you have uniform & money for dinner)

      • Everyone to Band room @ 1:20pm. We will do attendance, double check uniforms/equipment, then load bus.

      • Leave around 2pm. Stop for dinner on way.

      • Game begins @ 7pm at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

      • Return around 1-1:30 AM.

      • Students are excused until 12:00pm Friday Dec 17. They MUST report to school by 12:00pm for their 5th period exam.


    • S/E Titles & info due (2nd period) – Friday Dec 17

      • Students wanting to qualify for State Solo & Ensemble must have their music info to me by this date. Performances are in February at Viera HS. If they receive a Superior rating, they may go to the State level in March.


  • Nov. 10 

    • Game next Friday (Nov. 19) for Marching Band. We NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!!!! Please let me know if you can help. (Email Anthony Hottel)

    • Students should be working on their music for the concert and their playing tests! Playing tests are due Dec. 10 and our concert is Dec. 14.

        *** Legacy Cards are NOT accepted because this is an FBA event not a Brevard Schools event.


  • Oct. 8

    • Sign up to help with Concessions for October 15 vs Viera HS. We need a LOT of people to help with this. It is by far our biggest fundraising night of the year for our Band program.  PLEASE SIGN UP using the link above. 

    • The itinerary for Marching MPA on Saturday October 30 is posted as an attachment on the Calendar on the website. 

    • We need chaperones for Marching MPA! You must be a cleared volunteer through the district in order to chaperone. The link for beginning that process is below

  • Sep. 12

    • Band fees are past due.  Students can ask Mr. Hottel if not sure how much they owe.

    • Playing tests are due into Google Classroom by October 1.   Students should already be working on and submitting these assignments.  

    • Marching Band: JV game this Thursday. We need 1 adult volunteer and numerous student volunteers.   Uniform fittings will be this week after rehearsals so students may be a little later than usual. Tuesday = Leadership, 12th, & 11th gd.  Thursday = 10th, 9th, & 8th gd.


  • Aug. 29

    • Use this link to sign up to help with Concessions this week!

    • All Band students should have their instrument by now for class. If using a school instrument, rental forms need to be turned in ASAP. 

    • Any Band fees can be turned in starting Monday 8/30. All Band fees should be turned in to Mr. Hottel (cash or check written to Cocoa High School). Fees should be paid by Friday 9/10.

    • Check out the newly updated website! There are plenty more updates to come and things to be added in the future. 

    • Check with your guidance counselor to make sure Band is on your schedule! Our numbers went up a lot for this year, but that doesn't happen if we don't have everyone in a Band class. 

    • Marching Band students need to join the Remind 101! Text @hhot to 81010 to join. 

    • The Marching Band calendar (Band Camp and Fall) are posted on the "Calendar" tab to the left. 

    • FUNDRAISERS!!! Put the football game dates on your calendar as we need everyone's help. We are planning on many more fundraisers as well. One big goal we want to accomplish this year is purchasing NEW MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS! That means we need to do a lot of fundraising. We also are looking at replacing our current Band Trailer.
