Students Return
I hope this message finds Croton families well rested after an extended Thanksgiving holiday week. The students are beginning to show their excitement in anticipation of the winter holidays. Please assist us in
reminding students the importance of
maintaining their focus in school as we wind down the end of the first semester.
The PTO is sponsoring a Holiday Shoppe that is open to all students during the school day. Gift items range in price from $.25 to $10.00. Students will have help wrapping their gifts to bring home. More information will be coming home soon.

Please inform the school office and clinic when any changes in home, cell, or work phone numbers occur during the school year. It’s important to keep the lines of communication open! You can also add more emergency contacts in the front office.
Bullying
When someone says or does something unintentionally hurtful and they do it once, that’s RUDE.
When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they do it once, that’s MEAN.
When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they keep doing it even when you tell them to stop or show them that you’re upset, that’s BULLYING.
No Smoking Zone
There is no smoking on school grounds. This
includes the car loop and parking lots. Please be mindful of where you throw your cigarette butts, they create litter in the streets. Thank you for keeping our students healthy!
Parents, please note our FOCUS attendance system sends automatic emails regarding absences once a student has more than five unexcused absences in a semester. We will excuse an absence if your child is sent home from the school clinic. Otherwise, if your child is sick, please send a note from the doctor at your earliest convenience so that we can mark the system appropriately and excuse the absence. This will prevent these automatic emails. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Thank you for your support with student attendance. Our numbers are improving!
Important Safety Alert
Parents, please do not use the business office next to Croton as a drop off or pick up area for your children. For details on Croton’s drop off and pick up
procedures, please refer to Croton’s Handbook / Calendar. A paper copy was provided to you, and there is one on our website as well.
December’s Featured Characteristic
PERSERVERANCE
The Florida Department of Education developed state education standards and resources to equip students with skills that build resiliency. The December Skill of the Month is Perseverance. Perseverance is continuing to try even when things are hard. Please take some time and work with your child on fostering perseverance. Encourage your child to not give up when he or she experiences a challenge. If your child says, “This is too hard. I cannot do it,” persuade your child to instead say, “This is hard, but if I keep trying, I will figure it out.” Another activity would be to ask your child to work on a difficult activity of his or her choice, like a puzzle. Your child may experience frustration while working on the project; support him or her to keep going until the goal is accomplished. Have your child identify how he or she managed to keep going despite challenges.
