Overview
History of Fairglen
A former Fairglen student (Chris Lohse) emailed us this information about Fairglen: "I believe that Fairglen opened in September of 1966. From 1966 until the late 1980's, James J. Clark was principal. He was an extraordinary man who made Fairglen into the top elementary school in Brevard at that time. It was said that he knew the name of every child in his school."
Mrs. Judy Yates, our former bookkeeper, adds, "Fairglen was named after a street in Titusville where the Superintendent of the school system lived."
Student enrollment has varied over the years, and at one time was over 1200 students. In 1989, Mrs. Lori Ruiz became our principal, and during her years here, the school was renovated and the school is now all under one roof. Mrs. Susie Fleming was our third principal, and she retired in 2003. Then, Mrs. Jane Cline became principal of Fairglen from 2003 - 2010. Ms. Catherine Murphy was principal from 2018 through August 2020. We are now under the able leadership of Christy Meraz.
