Small Learning Communities (SLC)

West Shore's Small Learning Communities

Small Learning Communities (SLC) are designed to create positive lifelong relationships between faculty and students that foster student growth in the areas of academic achievement, college and career planning, service learning, responsible citizenship and character education.

The Small Learning Community provides students with a sense of belonging, trust, and confidence as they work their way through six years at West Shore.  The relationship between the student and the advisor/teacher can be vital in providing the student with a significant support person on campus. SLC teachers work closely with their students to provide a positive classroom climate in which character building, college and career planning, life skills, and academic support are the focus.
