**The average processing time of substitute application is currently 30-45 days

**ALL SUBSTITUTE TEACHER FEES WAIVED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE***

This includes drug screening, fingerprinting and sub certificate.

To be considered, you MUST complete Steps 1 & 2. Upon completion of Step 2, Human Resources will contact you via email with further information.

STEP 1 - BEACON Application

Complete & submit your BEACON online application. Link to BEACON

Must include 5 years of work and/or volunteer history with names of supervisors. Please provide accurate contact information to complete reference checks.
Please account for all time gaps in your work/volunteer history.
When submitting official transcripts, we accept electronic transcripts or official paper transcripts.

Electronic Official Transcripts – Submit directly to transcripts@brevardschools.org. We cannot accept forwarded or attached transcripts.
Paper/Mailed Official Transcripts – Must be official unopened/sealed transcript from the college.

STEP 2 - Applicant Submission Form

Upon completion of the submission form, Human Resources will contact you via email with further information.

STEP 3 - Forms

All of the following forms & documents must be completed and turned in as a complete package to Human Resources.

Please print and sign all forms. Forms are also available in Human Resources at the School Board building located in Viera.

Bring an ORIGINAL, signed Social Security Card
Bring a valid Driver's License
If you are a currently retired teacher, please provide proof of retirement.

Please bring all completed forms with you to the Human Resources office.

STEP 4 - Drug Screening

The fee for drug screening may be paid with a debit/credit card, personal check, or money order for $36.00 made payable to Brevard Public Schools.

The drug screening is time-sensitive and must be completed within 24 hours.

Human Resources is open for drug screening from 7:30 am to 4:15 pm Monday-Thursday

STEP 5 - Fingerprinting

All new applicants must be fingerprinted at the Office of District and School Security. Please bring debit/credit card to pay the amount of $41.00 for processing.

District Security is open for fingerprinting from 8:00 am to 4:15 pm Monday-Friday.

The BPS Substitute Office may take up to 10 business days from the receipt of the complete substitute package for processing.
