BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is thrilled to announce that the district has received an "A" rating for the first time since 2019. This accomplishment is particularly significant as the State of Florida raised the grading threshold for secondary schools from 62 percent to 64 percent this year. Despite the increased difficulty, BPS successfully met and exceeded the new standard.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell expressed his pride in the district's success: "All the credit goes to the hard work of the teachers and students in the classroom. I didn’t take a single test or teach a single lesson. The district's grade reflects the hard work of our
students
and teachers in the classroom who performed so well.”
Coincidentally, the announcement by the state was released during Dr. Mark Rendell’s Superintendent Summit where hundreds of school leaders were in attendance, including three school board members.
“Everything we do should be about student achievement. This is evidence that what we are doing is working! Brevard Public Schools is an A district. We are back on track,” cheered Megan Wright, BPS School Board Chair.
18 schools improved their rating
66 percent of Brevard Public Schools ranked A or B.
“As a former teacher here in Brevard Public Schools, I realize how huge this is. We knew that we were going in the right direction and that the decisions we made last year would pay off,” stated Matt Susin, District 4 School Board Member. “We did it. We are an A district!”
Achievements were felt district-wide with no schools receiving a D or F rating.
“It really is exciting! We have no D or F schools. This is a testament to the hard work that those leaders and teachers have done. I could not be prouder of our school staff,” said Katye Campbell, School Board member for District 5.
This achievement underscores BPS's commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering an environment where students can thrive academically. The district looks forward to continuing this upward trajectory and building on this success going into the 2024-25 school year.
