Check out the most recent eco-transformation from Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High! 🐛➡️🦋🌺
As part of their initiative to be the greenest school in the state, the home of the Minutemen was chosen for Discover Florida Channel's Flip My Florida Yard, a renovation series that specializes in cultivating native and sustainable Florida landscapes! Community members, students, parents, and the Discover FL Team worked together to make the magic happen, and just look at the results!
Some cool features of our new landscape:
🌱 Semi-permeable pavers for rainwater filtration
♻️ Recycled composite deck
💧 Roof water diversion system with natural filtration
🌴 Native plants & palms, including donations from the community
🎨 A tropical mural painted by our talented student artists
And that’s not all! Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr is now a UF Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program “Natural” property, showcasing sustainable practices to reduce water usage, encourage pollination, and help our environment! 🌍💚

🚩🏈Flag Football is here! 🏈🚩
Another initiative of Elementary School Sports (same as our awesome Fall soccer), this beautiful new program was made possible thanks to YOU—the incredible taxpayers of Brevard County who supported the "millage" initiative! 🙌✨
Just look at those smiles! 😄💚 It’s clear how much Flag Football and Cheer has meant to our 3rd-6th graders at BPS! Huge shoutout to the parents, teachers, staff, and administrators who volunteered their time and energy to make it all happen. You all rock! 🎉💪

✨ 6th Grade Can Be Tough—But Our Students Are Brewing Up Resilience! ☕💪
District-wide mental health surveys highlighted a big need for extra support at this crucial age, and we took action… introducing The Coffee Bean Experience!
Every 6th-grade student in the district received this powerful book, and teachers brought its lessons to life through creative classroom activities. We had the amazing opportunity to visit Sherwood Elementary School and Freedom 7 Elementary School to see the magic unfold—the lessons focused on role-playing, brainstorming, and deep discussions on how to be a positive, resilient Coffee Bean in the world. 🌍✨
Jon Gordon and Jade Gordon brought The Coffee Bean message straight to our 6th graders! They presented their message at the King Center full of our 6th graders, the remaining students watched from their classroom.

🏰 Huzzah! What a Night to Remember! 🎭
John F. Kennedy Middle School’s Medieval Festival transported their delighted public back in time with an unforgettable journey through history! From thrilling performances on the guided tour (yes, even through a Plague Cemetery! ☠️) to the fully interactive medieval village, Castle Kennedy, these students amazed with their talent, creativity, and dedication.
For 26 years, educator Barbara Sweeney has led this incredible event, and under her expert direction—alongside her fellow Cambridge program staff—students spent over a month diving deep into medieval life. They studied Arthurian legend, designed their own coats of arms, explored alchemy, and truly brought the Middle Ages to life!
A huge thank you to everyone who made this night magical—from the beautiful art and exciting adventures to the delicious food and immersive experiences. Until next time, lords and ladies! ⚔️🎶🍗

It was an 80s party to remember at the 2025 Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine! 😎🩷🪩
The Best Buddies Clubs from Titusville High, Astronaut High, and Space Coast Jr/Sr brought the fun, the magic, and the heart all night long!
From planning and fundraising since August, to decorating, hosting, and making sure every guest had a fabulous time — this crew worked so hard to create an unforgettable night! 🙌✨
So much fun was had... and who can spot their favorite 80s references? 🔎👻✈️🥞🏎️🥋

Career & Technical Education students from around the district recently had an out-of-this-world experience at Kennedy Space Center for an incredibly enriching "Skilled Trades in Space Day".
They heard from some truly stellar speakers, including The Astronaut Memorial Foundation's Executive Director/CEO Thad Altman, School Board Member Matt Susin, and retired NASA astronaut and naval aviator Captain Winston Scott. 🚀✨
Our students learned of the extreme demand and prolific nature of careers in all types of Skilled Trades in the space and defense industries, especially here on our very own Space Coast! After the inspiring talks and a Q&A with Captain Scott, they were treated to an exclusive "behind the gates" bus tour and a visit to the incredible exhibits at the KSC Visitor Complex.
A huge thank you to our CTE Department, AMF, and KSC for making this amazing opportunity happen for our students! 🙌🎉

👏 Meet Rhea Sinha, a junior at West Shore who’s making a real impact on her school community! As the managing editor of The Roar, West Shore’s student-led newspaper, Rhea published an award-winning article titled "Seconds to Save," where she highlighted the need for CPR and AED training after discovering alarming statistics: only 8% of students were CPR-certified, and 43% had never practiced it.
But she didn’t stop there. Rhea partnered with Shawn Sima from Who We Play For to conduct CPR training for 150 students and purchased AED signs to clearly mark the locations of life-saving devices on campus. Through her efforts, she’s raised awareness and taken action to ensure her peers are equipped with life-saving knowledge.
Rhea encourages everyone: “Knowing CPR is one of the most important skills you can learn.” Thanks to her passion, Rhea is helping create a safer environment at West Shore and beyond. 💓

During Literacy Week, Florida Division of Early Learning Chancellor Cari Miller stopped by Sherwood Elementary School to visit our amazing preschoolers!
Although our little learners might not know what an Early Learning Chancellor does, 😉 they sure enjoyed listening to her read aloud the fun book "Dig, Dig, Digging" by Margaret Mayo, and chatting with her about their love for big trucks and machines!
🚛🎶🏗
Her visit was made possible by our friends at the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County. We’re so grateful for the visit and the chance to showcase the incredible early learning opportunities in Brevard Public Schools. Thank you, Chancellor Miller! 💙

Check out the brand new Career & Technical Education at Brevard Public Schools logo designed by none other than Sophia Coleman, a 9th-grade CTE student at Satellite High School! 🎨✨ Sophia took the challenge to heart, aligning her design with the community brand "Tomorrow Launches Here" – and we couldn’t be more proud to have her incredible work represent our CTE team! 🚀
Here’s to all the bright stars in CTE – and to the future leaders, innovators, and creators who are shaping tomorrow! 💡🌟 This month we are honoring (among other events) as CTE MONTH! ⚙🔬👩🍳 Follow us for many more stories about successes and opportunities in your schools!

In mid-December, students at West Shore Junior/Senior High School experienced the Hate Ends Now: The Cattle Car Exhibit , a mobile replica of a Holocaust cattle car. Inside, students were immersed in the brutal reality of how millions were transported to concentration camps during WWII. The exhibit featured a 360° video experience featuring survivor testimonies accompanied by reenactments and the atrocities of the Holocaust. Finally, students were able to view a display of actual artifacts and propaganda from the Holocaust.
This impactful experience was brought to Brevard County by inSIGHT Through Education and State Senator Randy Fine. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, let us be reminded of the atrocities of the Holocaust and inspired to continue the fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate.
Thank you to all who made this possible for our students.
