New Worlds Reading Initiative is Florida's free home literacy program for eligible VPK-5th graders

The UF Lastinger Center for Learning is the state-appointed administrator for New Worlds Reading. Each month during the school year, eligible children receive a free book tailored to their interests with resources and activities for caregivers and children to use together. Books and materials are available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Braille. To be eligible, a child must be in a Florida VPK, not yet meeting age-appropriate standards according to FAST Star Early Literacy or K-5th grade, and not yet reading on grade level.
