Student-Led Transition Program
MHS's ROTC program students will welcome new students of military families. They will be paired up and take them around classrooms and campus, show them where offices are, and inform them of events that are coming up in the school. Our ROTC instructor, Lt Col (R) Robin Athey will work with Ms. Farrow, our military family liaison and counselor as we enroll new military families to Melbourne High School.
Military Recognition Events:
MHS recognizes veterans through a letter-writing campaign targeted to Brevard veterans and given to them at the annual Veteran's Day Ceremony located at Brevard's Veteran Memorial Center in Merritt Island. We also have our TV announcement students share the importance of Veteran's Day on our morning announcements in November.
Mental Health Challenges Facing Military Students
Our School social worker, Ms. Houts and our Military Point of Contact, Ms. Farrow are available to work with any military students facing challenges they may encounter. Please contact them through their email at houts.jessica@brevardschools.org or farrow.wynolla@brevardschools.org . Additional resources in our community are available and linked below.
