About Us Overview
About Stevenson
Stevenson opened it's doors in 2000 as one of Brevard County's leading elementary choice schools. Ranked as an "A" school, Stevenson has consistently been ranked in the top 2% of all schools in Florida. Nationally, it sits at one of the top 100 schools!
Serving over 500 students throughout Brevard in grades kindergarten through sixth, parents have an opportunity to apply for their child's admission to the school by completing a simple application through a portal on the district's website. After holding a lottery, held in January, Stevenson will notify parents about their admission status.
Several informational meetings are held during the school year when parents have an opportunity to learn more about our program and tour the school as well as meet teachers, staff, and parents.
Our program offerings include many different opportunities for students to explore the arts in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts. Several theatrical productions are scheduled throughout the school year as a part of our enrichment program.
Blended learning, where reading, writing, science and social studies are integrated with digital technology, are a way students learn across disciplines. The arts are infused throughout our units of study as we incorporate the Florida B.E.S.T Standards for Reading and Math or the Next Generation Sunshine State Science Standards (NGSS).
Our professional staff is immersed in the study of best practices that fosters contemporary models of instruction to include many STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lessons. Calling our STEM program STREAM, Stevenson teachers strongly believe in preparing students living in the 21st Century by teaching them the skills to read and write. Developing such skills encourages speaking and listening as well as using an array of presentation models through different technological means. Students learn not only computational mathematics but to also conceptualize their understanding of how they arrive at their answers with precision through authentic real-world experiences.
As a school of distinction, named twice A National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, Stevenson students can be picked out of a crowd wearing their uniform with its signature logo. Good citizenship along with civic pride are a part of our program focus. We care about the social and emotional development of our students by deepening our understanding in balancing matters of the mind and of the heart.
