I have always had a passion for art ever since I was very young. I grew up creating many different types of artwork and in a variety of mediums. I have painted murals, made ceramic, wood, and metal sculptures, ice sculpted, worked in fashion design and sewing, photography, cake decorating, glass etching, made mosaics, screen printed, taught throwing classes with the pottery wheel and much more. I painted my very first mural at the age of 16. I knew I had found my true passion in painting. I received my Bachelors Degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I then became a middle school art teacher where I was also in charge of musical set design production and large scale backdrop paintings. As an art educator, I continue to explore art and everything creative. If there is something I don't know how to do, I learn how. I find that art is limitless to the creative eye. I am excited to share my experiences and my passion for the arts with all of my students at Viera Elementary.
Students at Viera Elementary learn about art history (time periods & famous artists), styles of art (surrealism, abstract, realism, etc.), art and culture from around the world, art in our community, and technical aspects of art. Students also build upon craftsmanship skills and use meaningful art terms within their vocabulary. Students are allowed to creatively express themselves in art and often have opportunities to challenge themselves by experimenting with new materials or new concepts.
