Please check back in August 2022, for more information on the 2022-2023 Drone Team.

Our last meeting for this 2021-2022 school year will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 7:30-8:30AM.

Thank you students, for your endless energy, enthusiasm, team work, and creative problem solving.

Thank you parents for your time and efforts.

WMSS is looking forward to the 2022-2023 Drone Team season.

The WMSS Drone Team spent Saturday, December 4, 2021, learning about aerodynamics at the Florida Institute of Technology.  The event ended with several paper airplane competitions. WMSS students took 5, of the 6, awards.  These included 2nd place for distance, 1st and 2nd place for duration of flight, and 1st and 2nd place for creative design.

Our partnership with Dr. Wilde and the Florida Institute of Technology has afforded our school the opportunity to work with industry experts.  Through this collaboration our Drone Team now has simulator programs and programmable drones.  Students have begun learning Blockly code to create flight paths for our newly acquired drones.  These hands-on experiences will assuredly pave a path towards success for our students' future academic and career goals.

Due to an overwhelming response, our 2021-2022 Drone Team was selected by lottery.  Parents were notified, through the email listed on the Interest Application Form, of the results.

Practice for Team members begins Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 7:30AM.

The WMSS Drone Team is sponsored by Florida Institute of Technology and competes against other Elementary School Drone teams.
