9th Grade- Career Research & Decision Making (1 semester) AND Comprehensive Fitness (1 Semester)
10th Grade- Health Science Anatomy & Physiology AND First Aid & Safety (1 semester) AND Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries (1 semester):
Courses consist of an overview of the human boedy, both structurally and functionally with emphasis on the pathophysiology and transmission of disease. Medical terminology is an integral part of the course.
11th Grade- Health Science Foundations:
course is designed to provide the student with an indepth knowledge of the health care system and associated occupations. Emphasis is placed on communication and interpersonal skills, use of technology, ethics and the development of critical thinking skills. Students may shadow professional throughout the course.
12th Grade- Exercise Science AND Internship:
This course prepares students to be employed as Personal Trainers. Content includes, but not limited to, identifying and practicing within the appropriate scope of practice for a personal trainer, develop and implement exercise programs for apparently healthy individuals or those who have medical clearance to exercise, proficiency in the appropriate fitness equipment used, as well as a foundation in the Musculo-skeletal system of the body. This course also provides students with the opportunity to gain practical, first-hand knowledge in occupational clusters or industry sectors through a structured internship or on-the-job experience. This experience is designed to give students an opportunity to integrate occupational and applied academic learning and to apply knowledge and skills elarned in a classroom to actual work stiuations. Internship opportunities may be paid or unpaid. Course enrollment is subject to school persoonnnel approval.
