Our Media Center has been transformed over the last school year. A lot of changes have been made to the space and the program.
Furniture was rearranged, a lab was taken out and replaced with laptops, the space was painted, books relocated by genre, games added, a Lego wall installed, lighting was added, and even a ping pong table.
Policies were changed such as allowing students to eat lunch in the library, adjusting check out periods for books, additional hours of operation, and data tracking.
Since all these changes were implemented, we have seen a huge influx in students coming to the library and now see almost half the school each day. At lunch time, there are hundreds of students in the library working on homework, playing Uno, printing an assignment, or making whatever craft project Mrs. Friday has out. This positive change caused a great need for additional seating.
Mrs. Friday worked with a team of students and three company designs and then put it to a vote with students, staff, and families. One design was the clear winner and this week the furniture was installed.
We are thrilled and can’t wait for our students and staff members to enjoy it in August.
