Program Spotlight: JROTC by Kinley Cardinal
Junior Sarah Goodrich joined the JROTC her sophomore year and has stuck with it since. She joined ROTC for the marksmanship program and she thought the uniforms looked cool when they were all decked out with awards and achievements. Goodrich loves helping out with the community service events because she loves working with her friends. With all the different parts of the ROTC room Goodrich said “Someone would probably find me in the back of the room, either talking to my flight sergeant or just hanging out with the staff.” The ROTC room has many different parts and rooms. Goodrich’s favorite room is the “commander nook” which is where she will normally be sitting during class because she can see the entire classroom and “it feels kind of cozy in a way.”
Sophomore Maddi Maddox has been with the JROTC program and wanted to keep with it because she earns an understanding of how the military operates, she gets to learn essential life skills and loves being apart of such an amazing team of people. With all the different parts of the ROTC room Maddox said “If someone was looking for me they would find me sitting at my table listening to my flight commander and what she has to tell us for the day.”She joined the ROTC program because it helps her learn important skills and life lessons that she can take with her throughout her life. Her favorite part of ROTC is making new friends and making awesome new memories.
