Interact Club Hosts Swap Shop by Kyra Chang

On Friday, January 24, Interact Club hosted a Swap Shop. The event started at 2:30 and students would bring their old clothes and swap it with other clothes that were there at the event. A lot of work went into the event with students of the Interact Club working with their club sponsor, Mrs. Melanie Anderson. The secretary of the Interact Club, Sarah Ishaev, participated in the event as well as helped set it up. “The swap shop was a successful project within our school where students brought clothing that they were willing to donate and in return could get a ticket and choose other clothes to take home,” said Ishaev.

As mentioned before, a lot went into planning the event. “Our sponsor, Mrs. Anderson, came up with this idea in December,” said Ishaev. “We began planning it out in the beginning of January.” The shop was a success with many students donating good clothes. The students in the Interact Club work hard to help and provide for their community. “Interact Club is a place where students gather who want to connect with others in their community and school,” said Ishaev. “We have many fun service projects and also go to a stay away camp through the rotary club. We are hoping to provide help to everyone we can.”

As mentioned before, Interact Club had many fun projects where they are able to bond with one another while also helping the community. “Other projects that Interact was a part of was being invited to Camp RYLA, a stay away camp, by the rotary. We also helped the rotary toy drive in December bring toys for children. Right now we are planning on working with crafts club, visiting genesis house to do crafts with kids in need,” said Ishaev.

Ishaev hoped that more students would be interested in joining the club and would be encouraged to help those around them. “Interact club should be considered because it’s a great way to get involved in your community,” said Ishaev. All in all, the club was able to put together the swap shop to help other students get more involved in the community and become inspired to do more.

Interact Club's next Swap Shop is April 11th. Please see Mrs. Anderson in 1-230 for details!
